From vision to reality

From 15 employees to a technology leader

In May 1993, Dr.-Ing. Klaus-Peter Ruf took over the insolvency assets of the insolvent Transnova GmbH – with 15 employees and a clear vision: to intelligently automate packaging processes.

He consistently invested in robotics early on, giving the company a competitive advantage that has lasted to this day. Today, transnova-RUF integrates over 200 robots per year and is one of the leading manufacturers of robot-based end-of-line solutions in Europe.

1993
Company founded by Dr. Klaus-Peter Ruf with 15 employees
1995
New build company premises in the Brodswinden/Ansbach industrial estate. Entry into 6-axis robot technology.
1996
Development of the first generation of the V-230 Unipacker product line
1998
Development of the „Micromodule Strategy" concept – the foundation of today's Design-to-Order philosophy
2001
Second construction phase of the company building – growing capacities for increasing demand
2006
Market entry into the pharmaceutical industry – beginning of GMP/FDA compliant solutions
2007
Entry into picker technology – expansion of the machine portfolio
2008
Entry of the second generation: Michael Ruf (MBA) and Martin Ruf (M.Eng.) join the family business after gaining external experience in large industry.
2012
Third construction phase of the company building. Development of the V-250 High-Speed American Case Packer product line.
2013
20th company anniversary – over 2,000 machines in use worldwide
2014
Fourth phase of construction for the company building

Fifth construction phase of the company building – Extension on the Werner-von-Siemens-Straße 12 plot

Generational change

Second generation takes responsibility

In 2008, Michael Ruf, a qualified businessman, joined the company, followed a year later by Martin Ruf, a qualified engineer. Both had previously gained external experience in large industry.

Together with the founder Dr. Klaus-Peter Ruf, they form the management team and are driving the further development of the family business forward – with the same pioneering spirit as over 30 years ago.
